Holiday Date Ideas

Let’s face it, weddings are expensive. At the beginning of any engagement, couples can get caught up in fantasizing about all of the elements they want in their wedding. But then, they see the price tag…

During this time of expenses, it is easy to hold on tight to the wallet for other activities. I recently talked to one of my couples who said they stopped going on monthly dates because they wanted to save cash for future wedding expenses. It is definitely smart to save up for the wedding, but let’s not forget that the engagement period is an exciting time that deserves a little attention as well. Couples should prioritize spending time together to remember why they are getting married in the first place!

With that being said, there are multiple ideas on how to spend time together and still have dates without breaking the bank. Between me and my fellow wedding planner, Courtney Justice, we came up with a fun list of date ideas. We decided to make these date ideas holiday themed and unique to Pensacola for our couples getting married here in the future:

Christmas Lights & Hot Chocolate— Hop in your car and go hunting for the best Christmas lights in town! Veterans Memorial Park in Downtown Pensacola also has a beautiful display during the holidays.

Go to a Museum— Most local museums are usually free or very inexpensive to visitors. In Pensacola, The Pensacola Museum of Art is a great place to walk around and admissions are free for most of their exhibits. During a new exhibit opening, they will offer wine & hors d’oeuvres to the public for a small fee. So go pick up a glass of wine and snack on some hors d’oeuvres with your honey while admiring new works of art.

Make Christmas Cookies— Roll up your sleeves and get ready to fire up the oven. Making cookies together just sounds fun… and hello, flour fights? Plus, you can turn it into a competition and see who’s cookies look the best!

Join a Christmas Caroling Group— This one is a bit of a stretch and might feel uncomfortable at first… but after all, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!” — Buddy the Elf

Stargaze on the Beach— This is our personal favorite. This time of year, the weather is not too hot and not too cold, but just right. It is perfect for snuggling on the beach with a few fluffy pillows and blankets.

Plan a Decorating Night— With all of the hustle and bustle of the work world, it can be hard to find a time to simply decorate the house for the Holidays. Put on some Christmas music, sip on some egg nog, and get those decorations out of the attic together!
